How much time do you spend worrying?
I know I have been and very much still can be a worrier of magnitude.
I remember when I was pregnant with my son, I would worry that he wasn’t moving enough and poke at my belly until he moved. And if that didn’t work, I’d guzzle down some orange juice to get him moving -that always did the trick.
I have worried about so many things that were so unimportant that I can’t even remember what they actually were. You see, that’s the thing…if you are worrying about something that won’t matter in one week, one month, one year from now, why the heck are you worrying in the first place?
When I first became a single Mama, there were so many worries and fears. How is my kiddo when he is at his dads? Is he being well taken care of? Is he being loved like I love him? Does he know that I love him? Did I mess him up with this choice? and on and on and on…the worry ‘was real’. Yet, when it came down to it, the time I spent worrying, was not productive nor did it serve anyone.
So what do you do when worry starts to run the show?
Check in with your knowing and trust yourself. Even when we don’t know…we know. It’s a matter of really tuning in with our inner knowing and trusting that.
Know yourself. If you are a worrier, know that. Know that you will worry about things until you choose not to worry about things. It’s not right, it’s not wrong, it’s just worry. The question really is, is the worry creating more or less of what you would like your life to be like?
And then let that worry go, because you have far greater things to do and be, rather than worry.
